Philadelphia Voices of Pride presents The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace

Saturday, April 25 at 8:00 PM·8:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.·Rittenhouse

Posted to Rittenhouse on April 25, 2026

Join us for an evening of musical meditation as PVOP performs The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, composed by Karl Jenkins. This powerful choral masterpiece weaves together ancient texts, world music influences, and contemporary composition to create a sweeping meditation on the futility of war and a longing for peace. This performance marks POP's 20th anniversary. As a reflection of our commitment to social justice in our communities, a portion of this concert's proceeds will be donated to Anti-Violence Partnership of Philadelphia (AVP). AVP is a victim service agency based in West Philadelphia that provides a wide range of intervention, prevention, and support services to children, youth, adults, and families who have been a victim of violence and/or have lost a loved one to homicide. Learn more on their website. About the choir: Philadelphia Voices of Pride, a 150-member LGBTQ+ and ally chorus, is a non-profit organization located in Center City Philadelphia. As a mixed-gender and mixed-voice ensemble, we perform at an artistically rigorous level, building community and finding common ground through music. We aim to provide a safe and supportive space for singers of all backgrounds to join, especially those unable to find acceptance in more traditional choruses.
