Intro to Screen Printing

Learn the fundamentals of one of the most popular forms of printmaking! Using a stencil-based approach, screen printing allows artists to transfer their images to a wide variety of materials. In this introductory course , students will learn how to make a hand drawn or cut paper stencil, burn a screen, work in a communal print studio setting and make multiple prints of a unique one-layer screen print on paper. Note: This is not a t-shirt printing course All workshop materials are provided. Students have the option to bring in a simple sketch to work from. This drawing will not be the final film that is printed, but will provide a starting point to optimize class time. Sketches should fit within a 9x12" page and avoid small, thin lines.
