Our Philly
Terms of Service
Last updated: June 21, 2026
The short version
Our Philly is a free community events guide for Philadelphia. By using the site you agree to these terms. The most important ones to know: you own what you submit (events, comments, photos) but you let us display it. Don't post anything illegal, hateful, or that you don't have the right to share. We do our best with event accuracy but we can't guarantee it. Questions go to bill@ourphilly.org.
1. Who runs Our Philly
Our Philly (ourphilly.org) is an independent project run by Bill McBride in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In these terms, “we,” “us,” and “Our Philly” mean that team. “You” means anyone who uses the site, whether you have an account or not.
2. Using the site
Accounts
Most of Our Philly is free to browse without an account. To post events, save events, bless events, follow neighborhoods and tags, or receive the daily digest, you'll need to create an account. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account. If you think someone has gained access, email bill@ourphilly.org right away.
Acceptable use
By using Our Philly, you agree not to:
- Post anything illegal, hateful, threatening, or that targets people based on who they are.
- Post events or content you don't have permission to share — including copyrighted photos, flyers, or descriptions you didn't make or license.
- Submit events that don't exist, are misleading, or are designed to harvest clicks or personal information.
- Attempt to break the site, overload our servers, bypass security or rate-limiting, or otherwise interfere with how Our Philly works for other people.
- Use Our Philly to send unsolicited bulk messages or harass other users.
- Impersonate another person, business, or venue.
A note on scraping. Our Philly itself aggregates events from many sites across the city — if we didn't scrape, this site wouldn't exist. We extend the same courtesy. You're welcome to scrape event listings from Our Philly for non-commercial, non-abusive purposes, as long as you don't hammer the servers, don't republish content under another brand without credit, and respect the rate-limiting and security guidance above. If you want to do something at scale, just email bill@ourphilly.org first and we'll work it out.
We may remove content that violates these rules and suspend or delete accounts that break them — including without notice if we think users are at risk.
3. Content you submit
Who owns it
You keep ownership of what you submit. Posting an event, photo, comment, or other content on Our Philly doesn't transfer your copyright to us.
What we can do with it
When you submit content, you grant Our Philly a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, and promote that content as part of operating and marketing the site — including across our newsletter, social media accounts, and partner placements. This license lasts as long as the content is on the site, plus a reasonable period after removal to handle backups and analytics.
What you promise
By submitting content, you confirm that you have the right to share it, that it doesn't infringe anyone else's rights, and that you're not violating these terms or any applicable law.
4. Event accuracy
Our Philly is essentially a bulletin board for Philadelphia events. We aggregate listings from many sources — community submissions, partner venues, public event sites, and other listings around the city. We don't independently verify event details, and once a listing is posted we generally have no way to know if it's been moved, cancelled, sold out, or otherwise changed.
Check with the venue or organizer before showing up. Event details on Our Philly (date, time, location, cost, lineup, age restrictions) can be out of date. Our Philly isn't responsible for cancelled events, incorrect listings, or anything that happens (or doesn't happen) at an event you found through us.
5. Third-party content and links
Listings often link to venue websites, ticket sellers, social media, and other third-party sites. Following those links takes you off Our Philly, and we don't control what happens there. We don't endorse, vouch for, or guarantee the businesses, services, or content on linked sites. Read their terms and privacy policies before doing business with them.
6. Newsletters and other communications
If you subscribe to a newsletter or opt into the daily digest, we'll send the emails you've asked for. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter from the link in any newsletter footer, and you can turn off the digest from your profile page. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
Our Philly is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not make any warranties, express or implied, about the site — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability. Use of the site is at your own risk.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Our Philly and its operators, collaborators, and service providers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the site — including missed events, incorrect listings, lost data, or third-party conduct — even if we've been warned the damage could happen.
9. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold Our Philly harmless from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) that arise out of your use of the site, your content, or your breach of these terms.
10. Termination
You can stop using Our Philly anytime, and you can delete your account from your profile page. We can also suspend or end your access if we believe you've broken these terms or if running the site requires it. The sections that should reasonably survive termination (content license for content already published, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law) will continue to apply after.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top will reflect the current version. For material changes, we'll do our best to give a reasonable heads-up through the site or by email. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new version.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes that aren't resolved by email will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
