2026-01-24📍 Chestnut HillClassical Saturday | Marja Kaisla and the Trio Excelsior!
Pianist Marja Kaisla returns to Woodmere with the Trio Excelsior! They will perform three exciting piano trios spanning nearly 200 years of musical innovation including: Beethoven's expansive masterpiece the Archduke Trio; Enrique Granados's Trio, representing a kaleidoscope of gorgeous themes in late romantic European style and Spanish dance; and the insane but super fun rollercoaster ride by Paul Schoenfield, Café Music, in which the composer combines jazz, folk, gypsy, Dixieland, ragtime and modern writing with highest virtuosic demands for all three instruments. Admiration for each other's musicianship and great friendship inspired Marja Kaisla, Elina Snellman-Lang, and Yevgeniy Dyo to form Trio Excelsior! Beyond the sheer joy of playing together, they use the rich and intimate piano trio repertoire to further explore their connection to music and one another. Trio Excelsior! brings this shared experience to audiences of all ages, offering a unique window into the lives of great composers and the ways in which they expressed the essence of human existence through their music. The ensemble's name, Excelsior!, embodies what their goals as musicians are, "still higher!" $28 ($18 Members*) *Members need to be logged in to receive their benefit of discounted music tickets.
