Our Philly is a calendar of everything happening in the city. Here’s how your events get on it, what we do, what you can do, and how to reach us.
How events get on it
Big venues
We pull your events from your website. We monitor a few hundred Philadelphia websites and neatly organize what they list onto the calendar each week. If your events are on your site, there’s nothing you need to do.
Not seeing your venue? Tell us the page where your events live and we’ll add it to the rotation.
Bars, parks, clubs — smaller organizers
Your neighbors submit them, usually as recurring events. We also watch social media and add what we find by hand, and we’ll admit it: we miss things.
You can add recurring events yourself — every Third Thursday, Second Sunday, every Wednesday, anything like that. Click Post Event at the top of any page and choose Recurring. It takes about a minute.
One honest caveat: recurring events get cancelled often (the karaoke guy can’t make it, and so on), and Our Philly won’t know. So every recurring event carries a notice asking people to confirm with the venue before going.
What we do
Organization
We organize events by date, tag, neighborhood, and similarity to other events. People subscribe to neighborhoods and tags, so the calendar filters itself around what they care about.
Distribution
Newsletter & Reddit. The newsletter and the Reddit posts preview the weekend, or whatever is sensible at the time.
The daily email. Subscribers get a daily email of everything happening in their neighborhoods that day, plus a reminder of any upcoming events they’ve saved.
What you can do
Add & Report
The idea is that the community builds the calendar and you never lift a finger. If you want to, you can add events to your venue, or report any event at your venue that has an error.
Partner
Contact us for partnerships. People mostly use Our Philly to find things to do now, soon, or this coming weekend. If you want to be in front of people making plans in the city, let’s talk.
