Walk in + Weave a Scarf

Weave your own scarf on a 16-shaft Macomber loom. Sit down at the pre-warped loom and spend about an hour weaving 7–8 inches on a wool and silk warp, in a single color or mixing as you go; the finished piece is yours to take home, with edges secured by the studio or fringe you finish yourself. You'll learn to follow treadling patterns with your feet while keeping your selvedges even. This large loom takes some physicality: you are stepping on treadles and lifting six to nine harnesses on each pick across a 31.5-inch width. Some weaving experience, or the studio's Walk in + Weave class, is required before signing up.
