Walk in + Weave a Scarf is your chance to experience the joy of weaving on a magnificent 16-shaft Macomber loom. Sit down at our pre-warped loom and spend time (maybe an hour?) weaving 7-8" to create your own handwoven scarf. You'll work with a luxurious wool and silk warp, choosing to weave in a single color or mix and match as you go. The finished piece is yours to take home—we can secure the edges for you, or you can finish the fringe yourself. We ask that you have some weaving experience or have already taken our Walk in + Weave before signing up. During this hands-on class, you'll learn to follow treadling patterns with your feet while keeping your selvedges even. This is the perfect way to check out a large loom that takes some physicality to work. This loom is not for the faint of heart! You are stepping on treadles and lifting 6-9 harnesses on each pick. You are weaving a width of 31.5" and the scarf shown here is 7" wide without the fringe. You'll leave with a real skill, genuine knowledge, and a beautiful neck piece you created with your own hands! Here is an explanation of how our classes work and the "order" they are taught.
