Join us for an hour of creative playtime in Woodmere's studios and galleries. Enjoy story time, a gallery walk, and an art project designed just for the museum's littlest visitors and their grown-ups. Art projects and activities change on a monthly basis. Join us on either Wednesday or Friday, January 28 or 30 for artmaking fun and look forward to a new activity and project in February! $15/adult (FREE for Woodmere Family Members) FREE for children

Martin Luther King, Jr. Family Program
Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a family program that invites children and adults to learn, reflect, and create together. Families will learn how Dr. King and others took action for freedom and justice to ensure that all people are treated fairly and equally. The program begins with storytelling and artmaking focusing on legendary figures who bravely stood up for civil rights such as Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, Rosa Parks, Ruby Bridges, John Lewis and more. Through shared activities, families will connect these stories to ideas of courage, kindness, fairness, and working together to build a stronger community. A 2 pm performance by the award-winning team Hip Hop Fundamentals will present an interactive program of breakdancing and storytelling where children will experience American Civil Rights history in a new way, centered around Dr. King 's message of LOVE. Friday nights at 7:30pm, Playtime Comedy takes over Philly Typewriter for a BYOB standup show on East Passyunk. The shop—co-owned by Bryan Kravitz and Bill Rhoda—houses over 1,300 vintage typewriters, including one autographed by Tom Hanks according to Atlas Obscura. Broad Street Review describes the space as having exposed brick walls and beautiful wooden floors in what was originally a synagogue. $15 online, $20 at the door (cash, Venmo, or CashApp). Monthly passes available.

Friday nights at 9pm, a three-piece band backs you up as you belt out whatever's in the songbook—no backing tracks, just live guitar, bass, and drums plus a harmonizing host. The upstairs room at this Center City Irish pub has hosted the night since 1994. No cover.
