BASKET WEAVING

An introduction to hand-weaving baskets at the Soapbox Community Print Shop & Zine Library. About This Event In this introductory basketry workshop, you will learn the basics of twining with red. Students will learn one way to start a base, build up walls, and will leave the workshop with a finished small basket! Please note: Masking is now encouraged, but optional in the studio space. Individuals who feel uncomfortable using the space with others unmasked, whether for health or any other reason, are welcome to request mask wearing while they are using the studio space. About the Instructor Olivia Caro is a current Member at the Soapbox, whose work in papermaking and book arts focuses on themes of identity and home. They are a teaching artist fellow with ArtistYear, and have assisted with and taught workshops at the Soapbox, Penland School of Crafts, Atlanta Printmakers Studio, the Dallas GA Public Library, and Grinnell College. Cost $65 for Current Members of the Soapbox / $70 for Non-Members All materials included.
