LaVar Walker is an American comedian, writer, and actor celebrated for his observational humor and distinct comedic voice shaped by his experiences as both a stand-up comic and a licensed pharmacist. Originally from Chicago, Walker brings a unique perspective to his comedy, drawing on his background in healthcare and everyday life. Walker first gained widespread attention after winning the “Stand Up, It’s Miller Time” competition, hosted by Kevin Hart, which propelled him onto larger stages and led to appearances on shows like BET’s ComicView, Shaquille O’Neal’s All Star Comedy Jam, and Last Comic Standing. His comedy often blends sharp insights on relationships, culture, and the quirks of human behavior with humor inspired by his work in pharmacy. In addition to his stand-up career, LaVar has also ventured into acting, appearing on Amy Schumer’s show Life & Beth, where he wrote and acted alongside Schumer. He was also featured in the comedy film Uncle Drew, adding to his growing list of on-screen credits. Live jazz every Sunday from 10:30am-3pm at this Southern Italian restaurant on the Schuylkill River in East Falls. According to the restaurant's website, In Riva has been open for over 14 years, with nearly 100 patio seats—one of the largest outdoor dining spaces in the city. The kitchen specializes in Napoletana-style wood-fired pizza and house-made pasta. Dogs welcome on the patio.

Sunday nights from 7–9 p.m. at Otto's Taproom, the 70-seat gastropub at 29th and Flora Streets in Brewerytown. The bar is named after Otto Charles Wolf, the prolific 19th-century architect who designed many of the neighborhood's historic breweries during Brewerytown's heyday as one of America's largest brewing centers.
