Playful Planters with Guest Artist Jeanne Blissett Robertson

Join us on Saturday, March 21st for Playful Planters: Layering techniques and slab-building with Guest Artist Jeanne Blissett Robertson! In this one day, hands on workshop, participants will experiment with different printing techniques, inlay, and slab-building to create planters that are characterful and playful. Students will be encouraged to mix and match techniques to create surfaces that blend soft and bold imagery and inlay forms inspired by their own interests. Students will learn the basics of slab-building to bring these surfaces together for their planter.Clay and materials for this workshop will be provided. Workshop fee's include bisque and/or glaze firings of 1 planter per person. Artist bio:Jeanne Blissett Robertson is a ceramic artist whose sculptural practice is inspired by the history of science, mythical stories, symbols, and the cross-over of man-made and natural environments. Her pieces often possess qualities of other materials such as metal, wood, paper, crystal, and ice to engage with different story-telling devices. She works with a range of clays and firing techniques. A large part of her practice involves collaborating with environmental scientists. This includes a recent collaboration with Earth Scientist Dr Jon Hawkings and a field trip to Greenland. Inspired by this journey she created large soda-fired porcelain icebergs that fuse organic forms and decorative design details for her solo show ‘Another Way of Knowing’ at The Clay Studio. Installed
