Here’s a program to lift the spirits! Beethoven’s Violin Concerto is a sublime conversation between soloist and orchestra, a miracle of musical inspiration. Arabella Steinbacher, acclaimed for her “spellbinding, splendid, warm and vivid” playing ( The Strad ), joins the Orchestra for this beloved masterwork, always listed among the top violin works of all time. And Dvořák’s Eighth Symphony is struck through with joy and awe, a celebration of life and a world of wonders. Leading the way through these marvelous classics is Jane Glover, a conductor, scholar, author, and Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire whose brio at the podium is matched only by her deep knowledge of music.
