Open Streets: West Walnut transforms one of Philadelphia's most popular shopping and dining corridors into car-free space every Sunday from April 5 through May 17, 10 AM to 5 PM. Center City District closes Walnut Street from Broad to 19th and 18th Street from Locust to Chestnut to vehicular traffic. Pedestrians can stroll eight blocks of open streets while enjoying shopping, dining, and activities for all ages. Entertainment includes strolling bubble magic, busker-style musicians, pop-up performances, and double dutch lessons. A designated family-friendly zone features games and toys for families. Cross streets remain open at 16th, 17th, 19th, and the 1700 and 1800 blocks of Sansom Street. Select businesses along the route offer special promotions and events during Open Streets hours. The event is presented by Center City District with support from Rittenhouse Row and the City of Philadelphia.
