PECO Family Jams: Etegami with Asian Arts Initiative

Today, we are excited to partner with Asian Arts Initiative, a community-based arts center dedicated to advancing racial and social change through the arts. AAI invites us to create etegami in celebration of the arrival of spring. Etegami are postcard-sized watercolor and sumi ink painting, paired with a thoughtful phrase meant to be shared with loved ones. This art form embraces imperfection, making it accessible to all. It was invented by Kunio Koike as a rejection of the rigid rules of traditional calligraphy.
