Helium Presents: Guy Torry
In the tradition of comedians who have made the transition from the stage to the screen, such as Richard Pryor and Bill Cosby, multi-talented Guy Torry has made the leap to comedic actor with great success. Guy has been seen on BET’s “Comic View,” Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend,” “Showtime at the Apollo” and “Russell Simmons: Def Comedy Jam” where he made his stand up debut to a national audience. Guy also hosted the enormously successful 52 city comedy tour The Kings of Comedy, which grossed over $37M. He created a unique concept called Phat Comedy Tuesdays which was a weekly showcase for up and coming comedians. This evolved into a weekly spotlight at the Comedy Store on the Sunset Strip entitled The Guy Torry Show where Guy hosts and produces a comedy showcase featuring an improv comedy troupe. This event was regularly attended by the comedy A-List including Eddie Murphy, Chris Tucker and Chris Rock. After starting his career in Cape Town, South Africa Joey Avery made a name for himself in the Bay Area comedy scene quickly earning recognition in the SF Chronicle as one of San Francisco's Comics on the Rise. Live jazz every Sunday from 10:30am-3pm at this Southern Italian restaurant on the Schuylkill River in East Falls. According to the restaurant's website, In Riva has been open for over 14 years, with nearly 100 patio seats—one of the largest outdoor dining spaces in the city. The kitchen specializes in Napoletana-style wood-fired pizza and house-made pasta. Dogs welcome on the patio.

Sunday nights from 7–9 p.m. at Otto's Taproom, the 70-seat gastropub at 29th and Flora Streets in Brewerytown. The bar is named after Otto Charles Wolf, the prolific 19th-century architect who designed many of the neighborhood's historic breweries during Brewerytown's heyday as one of America's largest brewing centers. Otto's focuses on Pennsylvania-brewed and European beers, with rotating taps and what Yelp reviewers call "innovative bar foods" in a "laid-back ambience." Jackbox gameplay brings the crowd together; happy hour runs 5–7 p.m. if you want to arrive early.
