The Philadelphia Music Book
This conversation will be moderated by Larry Platt. Larry Magid’s 60+ year career in music and entertainment began in 1962. He opened the legendary club Electric Factory, where Hendrix, Joplin, Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa, Cream, Elton John, and the Who all played. In 1985, Magid co-produced Live Aid, the world's largest music event. He continues to produce tours today and is a two-time Tony Award winner (Billy Crystal: 700 Sundays and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical). The Philadelphia Music Book encapsulates the sounds of a city with over 300 biographies and stories about artists from the area who have gained national and international recognition, covering every major genre over the past two centuries. The Seasons
You could say Vivaldi had a kind of synesthesia when writing The Four Seasons . What does being cold feel and sound like? MacArthur Award-winning playwright and librettist Sarah Ruhl joins Anthony Roth Costanzo to co-conceive a tapestry of Vivaldi’s music, telling an original story about a world in which the seasons are completely out of order. Tony Award-winning set designer Mimi Lien collaborates with M.I.T. materials technologist Jack Forman to fuse art and science, bringing atmospheric events to the stage. Celebrated choreographer Pam Tanowitz creates a maelstrom of dance, director Zack Winokur helms the production, and Corrado Rovaris conducts the rapturous piece, which stars Costanzo. All tickets are Pick Your Price , starting at $11. Any amount above $11 helps support other operagoers and the work Opera Philadelphia presents on stage.
