Every Sunday from 4–8 p.m., The Plough and the Stars in Old City hosts a traditional Irish music session that's been running continuously since the pub opened in 1997. According to Temple News, around 40 different musicians rotate through these sessions, with an average of seven players gathering around small tables near the wood-burning fireplace. The session is open to the public—bring an instrument and join in.

Sunday nights from 7–9 p.m. at Otto's Taproom, the 70-seat gastropub at 29th and Flora Streets in Brewerytown. The bar is named after Otto Charles Wolf, the prolific 19th-century architect who designed many of the neighborhood's historic breweries during Brewerytown's heyday as one of America's largest brewing centers. Otto's focuses on Pennsylvania-brewed and European beers, with rotating taps and what Yelp reviewers call "innovative bar foods" in a "laid-back ambience." Jackbox gameplay brings the crowd together; happy hour runs 5–7 p.m. if you want to arrive early.
