Richard Goode, piano
Richard Goode is acclaimed worldwide for the tremendous emotional power, depth, and sensitivity of his playing—a rare combination of grandness and humility, boldness and insight. The title of his latest PCMS program, Fancies and Goodnights , is borrowed from a book of bewitching tales by the English writer John Collier. “As a curious traveler will collect objects that catch hiseye, these short pieces are among the many that have caught my ear with their beauty, strangeness, and unpredictability,” says Goode. The blend of technique, agility, and pure energy makes each performance unique and leaves the audience with their hearts pounding! The world's leading authority on the art form of stepping, Step Afrika! is critically-acclaimed for its efforts to promote an understanding of the appreciation for stepping and the dance tradition's use as an educational tool for young people worldwide. In stepping, the body is used as an instrument to create intricate rhythms and sounds through a combination of footsteps, claps, and spoken word.
